SEATTLE — A 24-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot during an attempted robbery in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood Friday evening, according to police.

Shooting Near 1st Avenue

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. near 1st Avenue and Blanchard Street, a busy area lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. Police said the suspect approached the victim, pressed a handgun against his ribcage, and tried to rob him.

When the victim resisted, the suspect fired, striking the man in the hand. The assailant then fled eastbound down a nearby alley.

Victim Hospitalized

The injured man was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition Friday night. Authorities have not released his identity.

The shooting drew significant attention in the neighborhood, which has struggled with a rise in violent incidents in recent months. Residents say the attack highlights ongoing safety concerns in Belltown.

Suspect at Large
