Investigation Underway After Man Shot in Anacostia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot Saturday night in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Authorities said the shooting occurred in the 1600 block of W Street SE. Officers responded to the scene shortly after gunfire was reported in the area.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found with gunshot wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital. MPD confirmed that he was conscious and breathing at the time of transport.

As of now, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Investigators have not released information on a possible suspect or motive, and no arrests have been made.

Police remained on the scene into the evening, canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage that may aid in the investigation.
