SEATTLE, WA – July 27, 2025 — A 25-year-old Indian citizen, identified as Manjot Singh, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and placed in removal proceedings due to a series of criminal offenses and unlawful presence in the United States.
According to an ICE statement, Singh has a lengthy criminal history in Washington state, with previous arrests for robbery, theft, criminal impersonation, assault, and driving under the influence (DUI). The agency did not specify the timeline of these incidents but noted they occurred over the past several years.
Arrest and Custody
Singh was taken into custody earlier this month in the Seattle area during a joint operation conducted by:
-
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Seattle
-
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Seattle
-
U.S. Border Patrol’s Blaine Sector
He was first booked into the Whatcom County Jail, then transferred into federal custody, where he remains.
“Manjot Singh remains in ICE custody awaiting removal,” ICE confirmed in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Immigration Status Unclear
ICE has not provided details on how or when Singh entered the United States, nor have they disclosed the specifics of his immigration status. However, the agency did confirm that he was living in the country unlawfully at the time of his arrest.
Singh’s case highlights ICE’s continued focus on individuals with criminal convictions and public safety concerns, particularly those without legal status.
As of now, Singh awaits further proceedings to determine the timeline and logistics of his removal from the U.S.
