**DELAFIELD, WI** – Interstate 94 has been completely shut down in both directions between Delafield and Pewaukee following a Monday afternoon crash that brought down high-voltage power lines, causing significant travel delays throughout the region.
Emergency calls were first received around 3:18 p.m. regarding a collision on I-94 at Maple Avenue in the Town of Delafield, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. The crash reportedly resulted in power lines falling across both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the interstate, prompting officials to close all lanes for safety reasons.
The closure affects I-94 between Highway 83 in Delafield and Prospect Avenue in Pewaukee. WE Energies crews are currently on scene working to repair the downed lines, and the interstate is expected to remain closed for several hours. In addition to I-94, Golf Road is also closed to traffic between Maple Avenue and Prospect Avenue.
One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries as a result of the crash, the sheriff’s department confirmed. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and Lake Country Fire/Rescue as the investigation into the incident continues.
Motorists are strongly urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews work to restore power lines and reopen the interstate.
