NORTH BETHESDA, MD – After nearly two decades of serving the local community, the Harris Teeter grocery store located at 11845 Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda has permanently closed.
The store’s closure, which was announced last month, officially took effect on or before July 20, 2025. A customer service representative from the Gaithersburg Harris Teeter location confirmed that the North Bethesda branch has shut down and that many of its employees have already been transferred to the nearby Gaithersburg store.

The North Bethesda Harris Teeter had been in operation since September 2008, making it a familiar and convenient shopping destination for local residents for 17 years. In an email sent to loyal customers, the grocery chain expressed its gratitude for the community’s support over the years.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to close this location,” the email stated. “We have been honored to proudly serve your neighborhood… and we look forward to continuing to serve you at one or more of our many area locations.”
No Word Yet on a Replacement Tenant
As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding a new tenant for the space left behind at the North Bethesda Center. The location, positioned in a busy corridor with high foot traffic, is considered prime commercial real estate, and speculation about potential replacements is already underway within the community.
While many local residents are disappointed by the closure, Harris Teeter has directed customers to continue shopping at their other nearby stores, with directions available via their website and mobile app.
