Group of Minors Accused of Ransacking Northeast D.C. Store, Injuring Employee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A store in Northeast Washington was left damaged and in disarray Friday night after a large group of minors allegedly stole merchandise, vandalized the property, and injured an employee, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Incident Details

The disturbance occurred in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. Police say the group entered the store, taking items and tossing them both inside and outside the premises.

At one point, an employee attempted to lock the door to prevent further theft. However, the group allegedly pulled the door open, damaging it in the process.

Injury Reported

MPD confirmed that another employee sustained a minor injury during the incident, though officials have not disclosed how the injury occurred.

Investigation Ongoing

No arrests have been announced, and police have not indicated whether surveillance footage or witness statements have identified any suspects. The MPD says the investigation is active and ongoing.

Residents and business owners in the area have expressed growing concern about incidents involving large groups of juveniles, which have been reported in various parts of the city in recent months.
