Four D.C. Men Arrested After Maryland Stolen Car Chase That Injured Deputy

NEW MARKET, MD – A high-speed pursuit through Frederick County in the early hours of Sunday morning ended in multiple crashes, a hospitalized sheriff’s deputy, and the arrest of four young men from Washington, D.C. The incident unfolded around 3:26 a.m. when authorities responded to reports of suspicious activity in a quiet New Market neighborhood.

According to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the suspects had been spotted allegedly tampering with cars near Jordan Boulevard. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the men fled in two separate vehicles, launching a pursuit that quickly escalated.

Stolen Vehicles and Dangerous Crashes

The suspects were driving a 2017 Subaru Outback, later confirmed as stolen out of Carroll County, and a 2012 Toyota Camry. The Subaru eventually veered off Mussetter Road and collided with a tree. The injured deputy has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Community Response and Law Enforcement Praise

Officials praised the swift response and coordination of law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions, which helped bring the dangerous situation under control and avoid further injuries or damage.

“This is another example of how quickly a seemingly routine call can escalate into a dangerous situation,” said a sheriff’s office spokesperson. “We’re thankful that no one was seriously hurt and that all suspects are now in custody.”

Residents of New Market and surrounding areas have voiced concern about the rise in car thefts and break-ins, especially involving out-of-town individuals. Law enforcement has promised increased patrols and community outreach in the wake of the incident.

As the suspects await their court appearances, officials hope that swift justice and continued cooperation across county lines will send a clear message to those considering similar crimes: law enforcement is ready, and communities are watching.
