WASHINGTON, D.C. – Residents across the District reported an unusually heavy presence of federal law enforcement on Sunday night, with FBI, ICE, DEA, and Secret Service agents spotted in several neighborhoods. The sightings came hours after President Trump pledged a swift federal crackdown on crime and homelessness in the nation’s capital.
FBI Activity in Navy Yard
One resident shared a photo showing “a bunch of FBI agents” in Navy Yard. The group appeared to be patrolling the area, though no official statement has been issued about their purpose or any arrests.
ICE Presence in Georgetown and Along U Street
Another resident reported seeing 10–12 ICE agents gathered under the Key Bridge in Georgetown around 8:30 p.m. Later that night, a separate group of about eight agents was spotted at 15th and U Street NW around 10:45 p.m. Their activities remain unclear, and ICE has not provided details on whether any enforcement operations took place.
DEA Agents in Dupont Circle
In Dupont Circle Park, witnesses saw five individuals wearing police vests, one of whom was wearing a DEA hat. Residents speculated the presence might be intended as a show of force or a form of intimidation, similar to an incident in Logan Circle weeks earlier.
Secret Service Near H Street NE
Late in the evening, around 11 p.m., another report came in of multiple Secret Service vehicles and security personnel stationed at the northwest corner of 8th Street and H Street NE, behind a Bank of America branch. The purpose of their presence is unknown.
Federal Deployment Follows Presidential Remarks
The sightings followed an NPR report confirming that scores of federal agents were deployed throughout Washington, D.C., on Sunday night. This comes in direct response to President Trump’s weekend announcement promising aggressive federal action to address public safety and homelessness in the city.
Authorities have yet to clarify whether the deployments were coordinated as part of a specific operation, or if the presence will continue in the coming days. Residents continue to report additional sightings in other neighborhoods.
