Everett Man Arrested in Multi-County Burglary Spree, Faces 20 Felony Charges in King County

EVERETT, WA — A 40-year-old Everett man has been arrested in connection with a months-long burglary spree that spanned at least four counties and left small business owners reeling from property damage and financial loss. Authorities say the suspect is responsible for 22 commercial break-ins between April and July, with 12 of those incidents occurring in King County alone.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is currently facing 20 felony charges in King County. Additional charges are expected to be filed in Snohomish, Pierce, and Thurston counties, as investigators continue to connect him to similar crimes in those jurisdictions.

Trail of Destruction Begins in Kirkland

The spree reportedly began in Kirkland’s Houghton neighborhood, where several businesses were targeted during the night. According to the Kirkland Police Department, the burglar used brute force, smashing windows and using power tools to break into cash registers and safes. In many cases, the cost of the damage far exceeded the value of what was stolen.

“It wasn’t just theft — these were deliberate, aggressive break-ins that caused tremendous loss and stress to our business community,” a Kirkland police spokesperson said.

Coordinated Investigation Leads to Arrest

Recognizing patterns in the break-ins, Kirkland police began coordinating with other law enforcement agencies in neighboring counties. Investigators were eventually able to link a specific vehicle to several of the crimes. After serving multiple search warrants, detectives arrested the suspect on July 23 in Snohomish County.

Police confirmed the arrest was made without incident, and the suspect was booked into King County Jail shortly thereafter.

Released on Bond, But More Charges Loom

Despite the 20 felony charges already filed in King County, the suspect was released after posting a $150,000 bond. However, legal trouble is far from over, as prosecutors in other counties prepare to pursue additional charges.

Detectives currently believe the man acted alone, and no additional suspects are being sought at this time.

Businesses Still Reeling

The arrest has brought some relief to affected businesses, but many are still dealing with the aftermath of property damage, insurance claims, and operational disruptions.

To support local merchants, the Kirkland Police Department has created a resource page offering safety tips and best practices for burglary prevention. Business owners are also being encouraged to install surveillance systems and improve after-hours security.

“We’re grateful this suspect is off the streets,” said a Kirkland detective. “But our work isn’t done. We’re committed to helping businesses recover and stay protected.”

The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to build the case across multiple jurisdictions. Anyone with information related to the burglaries is urged to contact their local police department.
