EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. – A traffic stop in Dutchess County has led to a major drug bust after New York State Police Troop K officers discovered over 500 grams of cocaine inside a vehicle.
On August 4 at approximately 2:59 p.m., State Police pulled over a 2024 Toyota traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of East Fishkill for multiple violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The driver and sole occupant was identified as Clinton P. Moody, 46, of Hempstead, New York.
K-9 Unit Detects Narcotics
During the stop, State Police K-9 Vinn was deployed to perform an exterior sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting officers to conduct a probable cause search.
Inside the vehicle, troopers discovered and seized approximately 566 grams of cocaine, equivalent to more than 1.2 pounds of the illegal drug.
Felony Charges Filed
As a result of the discovery, Moody was arrested and charged with:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, a Class A-1 felony

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (narcotic drug with intent to sell), a Class B felony
He also faces multiple traffic violations related to the initial stop.
Court Appearance Scheduled
Moody was arraigned in Town of Stanford Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Town of East Fishkill Court on Thursday, August 8 at 5:00 p.m.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the origin or intended destination of the drugs.
