POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A significant drug trafficking operation within a Poughkeepsie public housing complex has been taken down, following an intensive investigation by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force. The coordinated operation led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of illegal narcotics, weapons, and trafficking materials.
Authorities say the network was operating out of the Hudson Garden Apartments, a Poughkeepsie Housing Authority property, and was a source of dangerous drugs contributing to violent crime throughout Dutchess County.
Undercover Investigation Uncovers Major Drug Activity
The investigation began when Drug Task Force agents made undercover purchases of large quantities of narcotics directly from two suspects — 24-year-old Hudhayfah Abdullahi and 29-year-old Adrain King. These transactions provided the foundation for securing search warrants for two apartments within the Hudson Garden complex.
On the morning of July 9, 2025, the Drug Task Force, along with tactical support from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Emergency Services Unit (SWAT), Westchester County Police Special Response Team, and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit, executed the warrants simultaneously, targeting both apartments.
Seized: Narcotics, Weaponry, and Distribution Tools
The operation resulted in the confiscation of:
Crack cocaine and fentanyl
Packaging materials and scales used in drug distribution
A loaded handgun with an extended magazine
Authorities say the bust represents a major blow to the local narcotics trade and will help reduce the spread of illegal drugs and associated violence in the region.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Drug-Driven Crime
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office emphasized that this operation is part of a broader initiative to disrupt narcotics networks and improve safety in high-risk communities.
“This task force operation significantly impacts the availability of dangerous drugs that fuel crime in our county,” a spokesperson said. “The collaborative efforts of our local, county, and state partners are critical in keeping these substances off the streets.”
Authorities also indicated that investigations are ongoing and that more arrests or charges may follow.
As Dutchess County continues its efforts to dismantle drug operations, law enforcement is urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity that may be linked to narcotics distribution.
