Dutchess County Sheriff’s Report: Harlem Valley Activity, Aug. 7–16

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has released its Harlem Valley activity report covering the period from Aug. 7 through Aug. 16, 2025. Deputies handled a range of incidents, from traffic stops resulting in arrests to a large-scale emergency response that ultimately turned out to be a false alarm.

Aug. 8 – Arrest in Millerton

Deputies arrested Blanca I. Grajales De Gonzalez, 57, during a traffic stop on Main Street in the Village of Millerton. She was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration. Grajales De Gonzalez is scheduled to appear in the Town of North East Court at a later date.

Aug. 9 – DWI Arrest in Pawling

On Aug. 9, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near a residence at 826 Old Quaker Hill Road in the Town of Pawling. The investigation led to the arrest of Briana E. Grenier, 37, for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Grenier will appear before the Town of Pawling Court.

Aug. 10 – Domestic Disturbance in Pawling

Deputies were dispatched to 139 Charles Coleman Blvd. in Pawling for a reported domestic disturbance. Authorities confirmed the matter was resolved without the need for further police action.

Aug. 12 – Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Charge in Dover

On Aug. 12, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of 3483 Pleasant Ridge Road in Dover, resulting in the arrest of John W. Higgins Jr, 56. Higgins was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree. He is due in Town of Dover Court at a later date.

Aug. 14 – Multiple Charges in Pine Plains

Deputies arrested Luis A. Villarreal-Reyes, 45, during a traffic stop near 2829 Church Street in Pine Plains. Villarreal-Reyes faces multiple charges, including:

  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree

  • Operating without an Ignition Interlock Device

  • Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle

  • Improper Use of License Plates

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pine Plains Court.

Aug. 15 – Large Response to Rail Trail Incident

On Aug. 15, deputies and several Fire/EMS units rushed to the Dutchess County Rail Trail near Rudd Pond in the Town of North East after receiving a call about a man lying on the ground near a ditch. After an extensive search, first responders discovered the man was not in distress—he had simply been tanning. Authorities confirmed no emergency was present.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that all individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Each person is scheduled to appear in the appropriate local court to answer the charges.
