POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant early Wednesday morning at the Corlies Manor apartment complex, targeting a suspected drug dealer believed to be operating in the area. The raid took place just before 8 a.m. on June 18, drawing attention from neighbors and residents who witnessed law enforcement swarming the area.
Investigation Leads to Search Warrant
The operation was the result of a weeks-long investigation into reported drug activity at Corlies Manor and nearby Pershing Avenue Park. Residents had raised concerns about suspicious activity in and around the park and apartment complex, prompting the Drug Task Force to begin surveillance and intelligence gathering.
According to authorities, enough evidence was collected to secure a search warrant for a specific apartment within the complex. The goal of the operation was to interrupt and shut down an illegal drug distribution operation suspected of affecting the local community.
Narcotics Seized and Suspect in Custody
Detective Sergeant Adam Harris, Coordinator of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, confirmed that agents successfully executed the search and seized illegal narcotics from the apartment. A female suspect was taken into custody at the scene. However, her identity and the specific charges she may face have not yet been publicly released.
Harris noted that additional details would be provided once the ongoing investigation reaches further stages. The search yielded drugs believed to be prepared for local distribution, strengthening suspicions that the apartment was being used as a base of operations for selling narcotics in Poughkeepsie’s south side neighborhoods.
SWAT Team Assists with Operation
To ensure officer and civilian safety, members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s SWAT Team and the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol joined the task force for the operation. Witnesses reported seeing officers in tactical gear approaching the apartment with caution before entering and securing the location.
There were no reported injuries, and the situation was contained without any significant disturbance to surrounding residents.
Community Impact and Call for Cooperation
This raid is part of a broader initiative by Dutchess County law enforcement to curb street-level drug trafficking in high-risk areas. Corlies Manor and Pershing Avenue Park have both been identified as recurring hotspots for illicit activity, prompting increased attention from authorities.
Detective Sgt. Harris encouraged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement to help combat drug-related crime. “These operations rely heavily on information from the community,” he stated. “We urge anyone with knowledge of illegal drug activity in Dutchess County to come forward. Your tips make a difference.”
