Do You Recognize Him? MPD Seeks Suspect Who Slashed Cruiser Tire in NW D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is asking for the public’s help to identify a man accused of vandalizing a police vehicle earlier this week in northwest Washington.

According to officials, the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 11, 2025, around 6 p.m., in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street NW, just outside a residential apartment building.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect approaching a marked MPD cruiser parked on the street. Using a sharp object, the man allegedly slashed one of the cruiser’s tires, causing it to rapidly deflate. Fortunately, there was no officer in the vehicle at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The suspect was captured on nearby surveillance cameras, and authorities have released still images in an effort to identify him.

MPD has not released a motive for the vandalism but is actively investigating the case. Damaging government property, particularly law enforcement vehicles, is a serious offense that can carry stiff legal consequences.
