WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is actively searching for a 20-year-old man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in Southeast D.C. earlier this week. The suspect, Mercury Ford, is currently the subject of a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for first-degree murder while armed.

The tragic incident took place on Tuesday, May 27, at approximately 12:41 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Pitts Place, Southeast, in response to reports of gunfire in the area. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and officials have not yet stated whether Ford and the victim were acquainted or if this was a random act of violence.
