WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 61-year-old man from Southeast Washington has been arrested in connection with a knife-point robbery that occurred Friday evening, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The Incident

Police said the robbery happened around 7:08 p.m. near the intersection of Ridge Road and D Street SE. Investigators allege that the suspect, identified as Kenneth Stewart, approached a victim in the area, brandished a knife, and demanded their belongings.

According to MPD, Stewart waved the knife in a threatening manner to intimidate the individual before taking items from the victim. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Swift Arrest

Officers responding to the call canvassed the area and located Stewart a short time later. He was taken into custody without further incident. Police confirmed that a knife was recovered during the arrest.

Stewart has been charged with robbery while armed (knife). Authorities did not immediately release details about what items were stolen or whether they were recovered.
