Budweiser Clydesdales Tour Portland-Vancouver Region in August with Folds of Honor

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales are making their way to the Portland metropolitan and Southwest Washington area this August. Their visit is more than just a showcase of majestic horses—it’s part of a meaningful partnership with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that provides scholarships to families of fallen or disabled U.S. military members and first responders.

A Partnership Built on Purpose

The Clydesdales’ appearance celebrates a 15-year collaboration between Budweiser’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, and Folds of Honor. Since the partnership began, Anheuser-Busch and its distributors—including local partner Maletis Beverage—have donated over $33 million, funding more than 6,600 scholarships for deserving families across the country.

In a press release, Budweiser emphasized its continued support:

“We’re proud to deepen our commitment to Folds of Honor by donating a portion of proceeds from select beer sales to the organization.”

A Storied History Behind the Hooves

The Budweiser Clydesdales are more than a marketing symbol—they’re a living part of American brewing history. The story began in 1933, when August A. Busch Jr. purchased the first team of Clydesdales from Shea’s Brewery in Winnipeg, Canada. He then hitched them to a red, white, and gold beer wagon and surprised his father, August Busch Sr., at the family’s St. Louis brewery.

Instead of the new car Sr. was expecting, he was greeted by the horses delivering the first post-Prohibition beer in St. Louis—an emotional and historic moment marking the return of legal beer.

Busch Sr., recognizing the marketing potential, launched the Clydesdales on a nationwide tour, delivering beer to notable locations including:

  • New England and the Mid-Atlantic

  • The White House under President Franklin D. Roosevelt

  • The home of New York Gov. Al Smith, a key figure in repealing Prohibition

Honoring Service with Every Step

This August tour is more than just a celebration of tradition—it’s a tribute to service, sacrifice, and community. With every hoofbeat and parade pass, the Budweiser Clydesdales not only bring joy but help raise awareness and support for the families of heroes through Folds of Honor.

Whether you’re a horse lover, beer enthusiast, or supporter of military families, the Clydesdales’ visit offers a unique opportunity to be part of a powerful legacy in motion.
