Armed Carjacking in Northeast D.C. Caught on Camera, Police Seek Public’s Help

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a violent, armed carjacking that took place in Northeast Washington earlier this month. The incident, which was captured on camera, occurred around 3:45 a.m. on June 7.

According to police, a group of men approached a man sitting inside a parked van on the 900 block of Eastern Avenue, NE. During the confrontation, one suspect brandished a rifle and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. Before fleeing the scene, the suspects assaulted the victim.

The suspects then drove off in the victim’s van. Fortunately, the stolen vehicle has since been located and recovered by authorities. No details have been provided on the extent of the driver’s injuries.

Images taken from surveillance footage have been released by MPD, showing one of the suspects involved. Police are urging anyone who may recognize the individual or who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
