Grants Available to Teachers and Nonprofits through the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley announced today the opening of its Fall 2015 grant cycle. It is now accepting online applications from public school teachers for field trip grants, and will begin accepting online applications from nonprofit organizations for the Fall 2015 Community Response and competitive grants on August 1, 2015.
For Teachers: Field Trip Grant Program in Dutchess and Ulster Counties
Thanks to a grant from the Dyson Foundation, the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley will continue to offer the Field Trip Grant Program for the 2015-2016 school year to support field trips that positively impact classroom learning.
This grant program was created in response to growing pressures on public school budgets. While overall spending and per-pupil spending continues to rise, most public schools throughout the Hudson Valley region have been forced to cut educational enhancements like field trips and art/music programs. Last year, public schools in the region received $100,000 in field trip grants to take students to New York City, Albany, Boston, Philadelphia and numerous destinations along the Hudson River, for plays, zoos, museums and environmental study trips.
Funding priority will be given to schools in high need districts; teachers from high need schools are encouraged to view guidelines and apply for funding at www.cfhvny.org. Fall applications are due September 30, 2015; Spring applications are due December 30, 2015.
For Nonprofits: Community Response and Competitive Grants
Nonprofit organizations in Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster and neighboring counties are eligible to apply for an array of program-related grants. These opportunities are made possible through the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley’s Community Response grants program in Dutchess and Ulster counties, and through several additional competitive grant programs. Notable this year are additional funds available through Community Response – Dutchess and a new funding opportunity that can be found under “Nonprofit Capacity Building/Program Support” at http://cfhvny.org/Receive/Grants/Grant-Programs.aspx.
- Community Response – Dutchess: Thanks to an anonymous donor, an additional $20,000 in grant funds is available to organizations based in/serving the Dutchess communities of Millbrook, Dover Plains, Millerton, Pine Plains and Stanfordville.
- Jeannette F. Schlobach Grant Program: Nonprofit organizations involved in providing services to economically disadvantaged residents of Dutchess County are eligible for funding support through the Jeannette F. Schlobach grant program. Grants are available to support programs and services, delivered to economically disadvantaged individuals, families and their pets, which support and enhance economic opportunity, self-sufficiency and self-reliance.
