POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Downtown Poughkeepsie was filled with color, joy, and celebration on Saturday as hundreds gathered for the seventh annual Pride Parade, hosted by the Dutchess County Pride Center in honor of Pride Month.
The event kicked off on Market Street between Main and Church Streets, where participants assembled with rainbow flags, signs, and vibrant attire in anticipation of the noon step-off. Spectators lined the streets to cheer on the marchers, celebrating love, diversity, and inclusion.
One of the highlights of the parade was the display of the world’s largest Pride Flag, which spanned the width of Main Street as it was carried by volunteers through the heart of downtown.
The parade made its way down Main Street, culminating at Waryas Park, where the festivities continued with a Pride festival featuring live entertainment, food vendors, community organizations, and family-friendly activities.
Organizers estimated the crowd at around 800 attendees, marking another successful and spirited gathering that brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
The Dutchess County Pride Center thanked everyone who came out to support and share in the message of unity, visibility, and equality.
