Obituary, Ruth White Cromie

 

 

Holmes – Ruth White Cromie passed away May 22nd at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 28th, 1933 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Dorothy and Roy White. She graduated from Carmel High School. She was married to Edmund Cromie who predeceased her in 1983. She lived in Holmes-Patterson area most of her life. She moved to Columbia County 16 years ago.

In 1992 she retired from the foundation for Christian Living (Peale Center) where she was a supervisor. After her retirement she was a volunteer for the Pawling Community Resource Center.

Ruth enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and gardening. She loved music and could clear a dance floor doing the Lindy, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was what she treasured most.

Survived by her children; Bruce Nikola of Surfside Beach, S.C., Kyle (John) Hayden of Surfside Beach, S.C., Cheryl (Walter) Leverich of Wingdale, NY, Scott Cromie of Pawling, NY, Michele (Daniel) Kelly of Wingdale, NY. She was predeceased by two sons, Ty Cromie in 1983 and Mark Cromie in 2000. She had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a companion of sixteen years Jake Smith.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 26, 2015 at  23 South Street, Patterson, from 4pm-7pm. Interment will be private.
