Please join us on Sunday, May 17th to do some needed work on the “new trails” at the Dover Stone Church Preserve. On Saturday, May 3rd, many of you participated in the blazing workshop. Due to everyone’s fine efforts, the entire 3-trail system was blazed with red, yellow or blue markers. Later this week, certified chain sawyers will be working to removed the 20-odd “blow downs” which are blocking many areas of the trail system. This work should make it easier for the next phase on the 17th.

On Sunday, we hope to do some much-needed cutting/lopping of branches and clear the “foot path” as well. The objective is to make the trails walkable for the upcoming ribbon-cutting scheduled for Saturday, June 6th.

If you are interested in participating, please call me at home on Friday night or Saturday morning. If you need to leave a message, please include your name, telephone number and the best time to call. Unless you request a call back, I will only call you if there is a change due to weather. However, I will return your call if you have questions.

Please meet at the Dover Elementary School Parking Lot on NY Route 22 and 10:00 AM. Please bring loppers, work gloves, insect repellent, water and snacks. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are recommended. If anyone wants to bring a hand saw or a rake (instead of loppers), these tools might be useful, as well. Tools can be shared, so please make your tools with flagging tape or other. I expect that we will work until 1:00 PM, but feel free to leave earlier if necessary. Older children are welcome if accompanied by a parent.
