Kent Man Faces Charges in Domestic Incident

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Kent man who had threatened his girlfriend and became combative with deputies during a domestic dispute.

On May 12, 2015 at 3:44 a.m., Deputy Sheriffs Thomas Lee and Keith Blessing responded to a 911 report of a family dispute at 113 Putnam Drive in the Town of Kent. Upon arrival, the deputies were met by a female subject who reported that her boyfriend, identified as Joseph Toschi, 38, had threatened her with physical violence if she attempted to enter the residence. The woman stated that she was fearful that she would be assaulted and wanted the man arrested. When the deputies entered the residence to interview Mr. Toschi, the man became verbally and physically combative with the deputies and attempted to kick them. The deputies arrested and charged Mr. Toschi with Menacing in the Third Degree and with Resisting Arrest, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment. If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
