POPULAR HILLSDALE MEMORIAL WEEKEND FLEA MARKET DREW CROWDS

HILLSDALE, N.Y.–On Saturday May 25, hundreds of people visited the Hillsdale Flea Market, marking the return of the popular town event. Over 45 vendors sold their wares to eager shoppers.

“The vendors were very happy with their sales judging by the remarks made in an online follow-up survey,” said Tim Stookesberry, one of the organizers of the market. “Everyone seems to really enjoy the experience and would gladly come back next year. Many mentioned the excellent breakfast sandwiches provided by Hillsdale Fire Company #1. All in all, a great day in Hillsdale.”

The money raised from renting vendor spaces in Hillsdale’s Hamlet Park will be earmarked for park improvements.

“The flea market is a great event, not only for because it raised funds for the park, but also because it brings out many people from the area to the Hillsdale Hamlet,” said Hillsdale Town Supervisor Mike Dvorchak. “The event re-enforces that our Hamlet Park is an important amenity for residents and businesses. It also has brought renewed attention to our plans for the park’s rehabilitation,” he said.

Plans are afoot to repeat the market next year on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend (May 24, 2025) in addition to other events in the interim to bring people in the park.

“I want to thank everyone involved in making this happen – especially the members of the Hillsdale Hamlet Committee who organized and pulled off a great event,” Dvorchak said.
