Pawling Rotary’s 11th annual Golf Outing took place at the beautiful Quaker Hill Country Club on Monday, May 22nd. With sunny skies and a mild breeze at their backs, 52 golfers enjoyed their day on the links as members of the Pawling and Rotary communities came together to raise funds for the Roger Smith-Pawling Rotary College Scholarship Fund as well as many other Rotary educational initiatives, including three full scholarships to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference for high school sophomores, Rotary’s third-grade dictionary project, and scholarships to Pawling Recreation’s after-school and camp programs for community children in need.

This year’s event honored John Ammaturo, a club member and extraordinary community volunteer who embodies Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.” In addition to his 36 years as an active Rotarian, John serves as mentor to Pawling’s Interact Club teens. The Interact Club is jointly sponsored by Pawling Rotary and the Town of Pawling’s recreation department.

One hundred thirty guests celebrated John’s achievements at dinner at which John Ammaturo, Jr. described his dad with a speech that was punctuated by applause by all in attendance. Rotary members were on hand to ensure that the day’s events went smoothly, and the hospitality provided by the Quaker Hill Country Club staff was first-rate.
