Obituary, David Sidney Travis

David Sidney Travis, 65, a 20+ year resident of Wassaic, NY, passed away unexpectantly at his home on Saturday, May 6, 2023. 

 
The son of the late Frank and Velma (Teague) Travis, David was born on May 2, 1958, in Cold Spring, NY. He lived and worked between New York and California. In most recent years he lived in New York and worked with his brother and nephew as a Foreman, and Equipment Operator for Ken Travis & Son Excavation in Dover Plains, NY.
 
 He enjoyed camping, reading, watching western movies, the outdoors, and always cared about others first. He loved caring for and working with animals and had numerous jobs on estates caring for horses. 
 
David is survived by his 2 brothers: George Travis and Kenny (Debra) Travis, and 3 sisters: Lois Landgraf, D Lowery, and Susan Travis, 14 Cousins, and 14 Nieces and Nephews.
 
 He leaves many good friends who will miss him, especially his “Buddy” Ricky. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling on Wednesday, May 10th 6-8 PM. 
 
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 11 AM at the Clove Cemetery, Clove Road, Poughquag, NY. 
 
In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of David may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538
