Obituary, Harold Louis “Chip” Sowarby, III

Harold Louis “Chip” Sowarby, III, 71, of New Fairfield passed away on May 3, 2023, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 13, 1952, in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Harold Louis Sowarby, Jr. and Marion (Raperto) Peringer. Chip was a graduate of Bethel High School. After school, he spent many years as a salesman before becoming a certified highway escort driver and greatly enjoyed driving with his Blossom’s Driving Fleet family.

Chip was an avid racing and car enthusiast. He also enjoyed NASCAR and the NFL. He will be dearly missed by his lifelong friends and longtime neighbors.

He was a devoted father to his daughter, Melissa Newman, and her husband, Gary, of Danbury, and a dedicated son to his late mother, Marion Peringer.

Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. during the calling hours with Rev. John F.X. Palatucci officiating. Burial will be private at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains.
