Obituary, Roland George Capalbo

Roland George Capalbo, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his home in Poughquag, surrounded by his loving family.

A resident of Poughquag for 63 years, Roland was born in Pawling on June 9, 1933, to the late Domenico and Agnes (Taney) Capalbo.  He joined the Navy in 1952, and while in the Navy he married Mary E. Woodin in Pawling on June 24. 1953; he was discharged in 1954; Mary predeceased him.

Roland was a powerhouse operator which supplied the power to Greenhaven Prison in Stormville, NY until he retired. He loved going to the Saratoga Racetrack, which he did once a year, going to Cape Cod, and having coffee with his family, but he especially loved his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his five sons, Brian & wife Esther of Bayfield, CO, Mitchell & wife Mary of Lothair, MT, Michael & wife Tina of West Melbourne, FL, Roland Jr & wife Valerie of Vero Beach, FL, and Phillip and wife Pimi of Poughquag; his daughter Melissa Trawick & husband Glenn, also of Poughquag; his only surviving sibling, Serafino “Sy” Capalbo of Pawling; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, and friends.

In addition to his wife, parents, and siblings, he is predeceased by his son Matthew Capalbo.

There are no services at this time.

Burial will be at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at the convenience of the family.
