**UPDATE: Names released** State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a wrong way driver on the Thruway in Westchester County.

**UPDATE:  Names released**

State Police have released the names of those involved in the deadly crash that occurred on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

The operator of the 2007 Acura MDX traveling the wrong way on the Thruway in the city of Yonkers, has been identified as Qualasia N. Willis, 27, of Brooklyn, NY.  Willis was transported to an area hospital where she has remained, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

22-year-old Isabel D. Steger, of Bedford Hills, NY, was operating the 2020 Honda Civic when it was struck head-on.  Steger succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Lawrence Hospital.  A passenger in the Honda, Julia N. Ring, 23, of Elmsford, NY, was transported to Jacobi Medical Center where she remains in serious but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

Yonkers, NY – On April 9, 2023, at approximately 4:41 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a serious injury crash that occurred on I-87 northbound, near mile marker .48, at exit 1 (Yonkers).

A preliminary investigation determined a wrong-way driver of an Acura MDX was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it struck a Honda Civic head on.  Two individuals were injured and transported to area hospitals and a third individual was pronounced deceased during transport to a third local hospital.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.  More information will be released when it becomes available.
