On April 12, 2023, at around 3:07 p.m., State Police were called to Route 312 in the town of Southeast for a report of a transit van carrying five passengers, off the road in a ditch.

When Troopers arrived, a white transit van was observed in an embankment against a utility pole.

A preliminary investigation determined, that the driver of the van felt the steering wheel jerk and then lost steering.

During the investigation, it was determined that the van crossed the double yellow line, went off the shoulder, and struck an embankment and a utility pole.

Three passengers were taken to Putnam Hospital for evaluation.

All three passengers were released and no issues were reported during a follow up with a trooper the next day.

The driver of the van has not been charged.
