Obituary, Rosemary Lee Wood

Rosemary Lee Wood, 76, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY passed away on Tuesday, April 4 2023 at her home in Dover Plains surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 23, 1946, in Brewster, NY, she was the daughter of the late Caleb Smith, Sr., and Mary (Schaniel) Smith.

Rosemary was a therapy aide at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and later the Wassaic Developmental Center with 36 years of dedicated service retiring in 2002. Additionally, Rosemary provided a private daycare center out of her home for local families for over 20 years. Rosemary continually made many sacrifices throughout her lifetime to solely provide and care for her family. In her free time, Rosemary enjoyed playing cards, solving puzzles, and cooking. Rosemary especially enjoyed baking cakes for her family and friends.

Rosemary is survived by her companion of 18 years, Paul Wood, of Dover Plains; a son, Leland M. Wood, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Dover Plains; two daughters, Julie Brown and her husband, Joseph, of Dover Plains and Angela Glynn and her husband, Stephen, of Dover Plains and a step-son, Rory Wood and his wife Beatrice of Kenduskeag, ME. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Smith, Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Patterson, NY and eleven grandchildren: Erin, Megan, Abbey and Laurel and Emily Wood, Ashlee Harris, Branden and Zachary Wheeler, Michael Wood, Tosha Emerson and Matthew Glynn. Rosemary is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by two brothers, Caleb Smith, Jr. and John Smith.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home with Pastor Anthony Bacino officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery in Patterson.
