Nancy J. Buckley of Dover Plains, NY, passed away at the age of 65 on Saturday, March 25, 2023, surrounded by family at Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT, after a long and courageous battle against breast cancer.
Nancy was born June 17, 1957, in Manhattan, NY, daughter of the late Robert and Rita (Carroll) Maloney. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the Bronx, NY in 1975. On June 16, 1979, the day before her 22nd birthday, she married Dan Buckley, whom she met working at the Inwood Pathmark grocery store at the age of 17. After moving to Dutchess County to start a family, Nancy lived in Dover Plains for the past forty years. She opened her home to many children during that time as a daytime caregiver and was also a bookkeeper for many different companies, most recently for Brunello Cucinelli in Carmel, NY. She loved gardening, holidays (especially decorations), and spending time with her family, including her husband and three children who loved her dearly.
Nancy is survived by her husband Dan; son Brian Buckley of Holyoke, MA; daughters Laurie Buckley of Virginia Beach, VA and Katelyn Buckley of Worcester, VT; sister Carol Maloney of Patterson, NY; brothers Bobby Maloney of Rochelle Park, NJ, and Gerry Maloney of Brewster, NY; and many other loving members of her extended family.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church in Patterson, NY, at 11 am. The interment will take place at a later date.
