Sheriff’s Office to roll out body-worn cameras

Published: 3/17/2023

Sheriff Kirk Imperati is pleased to announce the deployment of body-worn cameras to Sheriff’s Office members, effective Saturday 3/18/23. The cameras have been provided to sworn members of the Sheriff’s Office in order to provide greater transparency, build community trust, and further honor the commitment to our Police Reform and Modernization Plan.

The cameras will be in use when Sheriff’s Deputies respond to incidents or take official action, including but not limited to using force and making arrests. They are made by Axon, will be worn on the Deputy’s person, and will capture both audio and video. During this past week Sheriff’s Office personnel received comprehensive training on the use of the cameras and are well qualified to begin using them on 3/18/23. The cameras are expected to be of significant overall benefit to both the Deputies and the public that they serve as we move forward and get better together.
