Dutchess County Announces Next Round of
Veterans Microgrants
Applications available starting March 20th
Poughkeepsie, NY … Applications for the Dutchess County Division of Veterans’ Services 2023 Veterans Microgrant Program will begin being accepted on Monday, March 20th. The Veterans Microgrant Program offers one-time grants to local non-profit veterans organizations and municipalities to enhance activities and programming that address veterans’ needs or recognize their service. Beginning March 20th, grant applications can be found online at dutchessny.gov/vetmicrogrant, and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis while funds are available.
A total of $150,000 in grant funding is available through this program and will be available in award amounts between $5,000 and $15,000 per organization or municipality. It can be used for purchases or needs, including equipment, resources, or other one-time expenses to help enhance program offerings, as well as make the program more accessible for veterans.

Nonprofit organizations or municipalities that currently offer specific programs to and for the benefit of veterans of the United States Armed Forces in Dutchess County are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to entities that do not already contract with Dutchess County Government to provide services to veterans.
Only one application per organization will be accepted. Any organization that received grant funding under the 2022 Dutchess County Veterans Support Program are ineligible for funding under this program.
Funding should be utilized within one year of award and will be paid out quarterly. There will be an execution payment of 25% of the total award, the remaining funding will be awarded on a quarterly reimbursement basis.

Examples of possible funding awards include:
- Enhancement, expansion of a program or service currently offered to veterans
- New programming for veterans provided by an agency that already provides services to veterans
- Purchase plaques, banners, or monuments to honor veterans.
- Expenses associated with an event (picnic, holiday party) to honor veterans.
- General capital infrastructure to facilities, including physical structures (roof, windows, doors, etc.), HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The structure’s primary purpose must be for veterans’ services.
- Outreach activities to engage with veterans not yet connected to programs and services.
Division of Veterans’ Services Director Adam Roche said, “While working directly with our local veteran population, our department hears about their needs in the community. This microgrant program helps us support the needs of these organizations. Many veterans have come through our doors and given positive feedback about last year’s grants, and we look forward to doing the same this year. Serving our veterans is our top priority and these microgrants are a great addition to our effort.”
