Obituary, Helen Dolores “Mickey” Harrod

Wassaic – Helen Dolores “Mickey” Harrod, 85, a lifelong resident of Wassaic, NY died peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at The FASNY Firefighter’s Home in Hudson, NY. Helen worked as a therapy aide at the Wassaic State School in Wassaic prior to her retirement in 1997. She was employed at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT for many years, retiring from Noble Horizons as well.

Born October 2, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Eckerline) Killmer. She attended school locally and was a 65-year life member of the Wassaic Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed watching game shows in her spare time. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.

Helen is survived by her son, Jeffrey Harrod and his wife Jeanne Marie Robinson of Hopewell Junction, NY; her sister, Joan Dietter of Millerton, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by two sisters, Marion DeLaney and Beverly Boyles, and four brothers, Vincent, Richard, James Jr., and Edward Killmer.

Graveside services and burial will take place on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 3 pm at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Route 22, Amenia, NY. Rev. Clarice Murphy will officiate. A reception will follow at the Wassaic Fire Company, 27 Firehouse Road, Wassaic, NY.
