Barbara A. Nichols, 64, a longtime area resident, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous 13 month battle with cancer. Barbara was a billing manager at Nordicare in Sharon, CT for many years before her retirement.
Born on March 12, 1958, in Sharon, CT, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Frances (Hoag) Tracy. On December 27, 1989, in Wassaic, NY, she married Terry F. Nichols who survives at home. She is also survived by a daughter, Alyssa Mawson, and her husband, Martyn, of Millerton, NY; a brother, Edward Tracy and his wife, Janet, of Naples, FL and a sister, Eileen Stanton of Naples, FL. Barbara is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her loving extended family that all meant so much more to her than their given labels.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place during visitation at 6:30 p.m.
There will also be a potluck Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 11, 2023, starting at noon, at the Amenia Fish and Game Club for anyone that wants to attend.
