Obituary, Edward “Jackie” John Cullen

Edward “Jackie” John Cullen was born January 25, 1937, in Poughkeepsie, NY to Mary Petrone Cullen and Edward T. Cullen and passed away peacefully in Sharon, CT on February 16, 2023. Jackie was a Millbrook, NY local and was known around the town very well as he spent the majority of his life there. Jackie is survived by his 4 cousins, Gregory Petrone, William Petrone, Stephen Petrone and Stephen’s wife, Lois Petrone, all from Millbrook, NY. As well as cousin, Marcia Ball Raines, from Coppell, TX.

Jackie was a huge sports fan and was known very well for his unmatched passion and achievement for golf with the locals of Millbrook, NY. Jackie was so impressive with the local sports teams that he had been inducted into the Millbrook Athletic Hall of Fame on November 6th, 2015 for a “Special Contributor Award” and in turn, the day is locally known as “Jackie Cullen Day.” November 6th now being known as an appreciation to Jackie in the community for being a huge supporter of Millbrook Sports since the 1950’s, where he has previously served as the positions of Team Manager, Statistician, Scorekeeper and Timekeeper for many of the Millbrook High School varsity games. Jackie was a huge Cincinnati Bengals fan in a world of NY Giants and NY Jets fan’s but still was able to show his NY Pride to the NY Yankee’s.

Jackie did not have the easiest life, as he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a very young age, yet still was able to show his love for family and life around him. He had graduated from Dutchess Community College on June 7, 1970 with a degree in Associates in Applied Science and was a devoted catholic to St. Joseph’s Church in his hometown where he frequently attended mass and practiced the catholic religion. Calling hours for Jackie Cullen will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook, NY from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10 am from St. Joseph’s Church. Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Millbrook.
