Obituary, Harvey Alan Clark

Harvey Alan Clark, 79, passed away on February 9, 2023. Born on November 6, 1943, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Harvey and Ruth (Clinton) Clark. Dad was also raised by his mother’s cousin Lawrence Aldorf and his wife Elizabeth who brought a great deal of light into his life at a time when he needed it most.

After graduating from Arlington High School in 1961, Dad joined the US Coast Guard and was stationed in and around Pompano Beach, Florida. Having had a fondness for both boats and seafood since his youth, he always recalled his service fondly. In his later years, he enjoyed watching live cams of the beaches he knew so well. After his honorable discharge, he apprenticed as an electrician and spent the majority of his career as a member of IBEW 320 in Poughkeepsie.

He is survived by his children, Daniel (Jesica) of Stanfordville, and Kristen of Hartsdale, who were by his side in his final months, weeks, and days. He was predeceased by a son, Michael, in 1980.

We are very grateful for the kindness and expertise shown to Dad by so many people during his illness: Joe, Susan, and Bridget of Hudson Valley Hospice, Dr. Rachamalla, Sarah, and April at the Dyson Center for Cancer Care, the staff and caregivers at The Pines, his neighbors, and old friends.
In keeping with Dad’s wishes, there will be no public ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation.
