The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Shawn R. Magliocchino, age 28 of Poughkeepsie, in connection with an armed standoff which occurred in the Town of Poughkeepsie during the morning hours of 1/25/23.

On the above date just after 9:00 am, a Deputy from the Sheriff’s Office’s Civil Division went to 21 Pleasant View Rd in Poughkeepsie for the purpose of serving an eviction warrant. Upon arrival contact was made with Mr. Magliocchino, who then displayed a shotgun and refused to cooperate with the service of the warrant. At that time numerous personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and Town of Poughkeepsie Police responded, including Emergency Services and hostage negotiators, and Mr. Magliocchino ultimately surrendered peacefully at approximately 12:20 pm. At the time of the incident, there was also another family member inside the residence, however they left peacefully and were unharmed.

At this time Mr. Magliocchino has been charged with Menacing a Police or Peace Officer, which is a felony. After being processed he was arraigned before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, and the investigation is continuing.

As with any criminal case the charge described above is merely an accusation and Mr. Magliocchino is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
