Obituary, Arthur “Art” Winship

 

Arthur “Art” Winship, 92, a lifelong resident of Wingdale, NY, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 at his home in Wingdale. Mr. Winship was a motor equipment maintenance supervisor at Greenhaven Correctional Facility in Stormville, NY. Mr. Winship also worked at the Dutchess County Highway Department, Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Born on September 20, 1930 at the family farm, “Grassy Hill”, in Dover Plains he was the youngest child of Harry and Blanche (Hufcut) Winship. Mr. Winship loved the outdoors and his beloved Preston Mountain where he worked on several estates and patrolled the mountain during hunting season. Mr. Winship was also a life member of the J.H. Ketcham Hose Company.

Mr. Winship is survived by a his longtime companion, Patricia Wilson; two daughters, Sheryl Ann Dominguez and Robin Winship and her companion, Tony and a son, Kevin Winship and his wife, Ria. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth Watts and her husband, John; a grandson, Zach Dominguez and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Winship was predeceased by first wife, Carol Ann Yetman, his second wife, Lorraine Kaiser; a son-in-law, Paul Dominguez; three brothers, Sonny, Warren and Harry Winship; a sister, Lina Drake and a cousin, Charlotte Whaley.

Graveside services and burial will take place at 11 a.m. on on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Valley View Cemetery, S. Nellie Hill Road, Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the J.H.
