Hugo Rosenkranz, a resident of Fairfax, CA and formerly of Ulster County, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 28, 2022. Born on November 11, 1931 in Wetter, Germany, he was the son of the late Frederick and Sophia (Schroeder) Rosenkranz.

Mr. Rosenkranz is survived by his loving partner, Hermina Rider, two daughters, Sylvia Haoula and her husband, Ayman of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Delpha Snow and her husband, Richard of Fairfax, CA. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Helene Rosenkranz, five grandchildren, Mohammad Haoula, Renee Rosenkranz-Petsch, Erik, Russell and Kreg Rosenkranz; and two step-grandchildren, Jonah Snow and Nikko Haller.

Mr. Rosenkranz grew up in Germany and emigrated to the U.S. at age 24. He worked as a butcher and meat cutter for over 40 years. He learned his skills in his family’s butcher business and at trade school in Germany. Over the years, he worked for small butcher shops, supermarkets, and larger meat packing businesses.

Of foremost importance to Mr. Rosenkranz was his family. When his children and grandchildren were young, he attended numerous sports events cheering them on. He volunteered and raised money for his sons’ Boy Scout Troup and went on numerous camping trips. Playing golf was his favorite sport, and he particularly enjoyed swinging his golf clubs with his sons and grandsons. He met his partner, Hermina Rider, in 1999, and they moved to Marin County, California in 2006. They enjoyed traveling to New York and Germany to visit family and friends as well as getaways to Maui to celebrate their birthdays. He truly enjoyed living in the Bay Area with drives around wine country, walks on the beach and playing golf. He loved catching up with family and friends over a cup of coffee.
