Free, Drive Thru “Living Nativity” features live animals

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NY – Families looking for a fun, free way to remember the reason for the season need only pay a visit to the drive-thru “Living Nativity” display at Hopewell Reformed Church (HRC).  The church will be hosting a “Living Nativity” from 4:30 to 7 p.m. December 17 and 18 at 143 Beekman Road in Hopewell Junction.

Live actors and animals will bring the nativity story to life in five scenes re-enacting the first Christmas. The church’s choir and the hand bell choir will perform hymns and carols to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

“A short 10-minute drive through our church grounds will give families the chance to experience the joy of Christmas,” said HRC Lead Pastor Doug Leonard.  “It’s important for families to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season, spend quality time together and experience the joy of Christmas.”

More than 1,400 people visited the “Living Nativity” last year.  Donations from the event raised enough to provide gifts to 50 local children who wrote letters to Santa Claus, including one who wanted a gift card for his mother so she could buy Christmas dinner for the family.

“We look forward to sharing the Christmas story with the entire community,” Leonard said.  “One hundred percent of all donations will go toward helping local children have a happy Christmas morning.”
