15th Annual PRC Walk-a-thon Happening on October 15th

By Susan Stone

The Pawling Resource Center’s 15th annual Walk-a-thon will take place on October 15th, with registration at 11 a.m. at the Resource Center, located at 126 East Main Street. The walk will begin at 11:30, traveling through the village and back. This FUN-draiser, known as “Walk so They May Ride,” is a day of joy and friendship for those participants who gather in support of the PRC and the work this organization does for community members in need.

Following the walk, prizes, food, and music will be offered on the lawn of the John Kane House. This event raises funds for the transportation services that the PRC offers as one of its signature programs. These services provide rides to medical appointments for Pawling residents, rides to access food through shopping and visiting the PRC’s Food Pantry, and organizes food delivery to those who are unable to leave home to shop, all with the help of volunteer drivers. The PRC also maintains an active Food Pantry, and a medical equipment loan program.

Walkers are encouraged to form teams to raise money for this effort. The team that raises the most will win a basket of fun and useful goodies to share among team members. Additionally, single walkers may raise money by soliciting donations for their effort, with a prize basket waiting for the winner of this category. Information about forming teams, and all registration forms, may be found at pawlingresourcecenter.org, or by picking forms up at the PRC. Pre-registration is encouraged. Contact the PRC directly or sign up on line at www.pawlingresourcecenter.org.

This year, all walkers will receive a PRC T-shirt, and favorite canines are invited to walk with their best human friends. All pups will receive a Woof-Woof bag of toys and treats.

Information about the many ways to support the PRC and the Walk-a-thon is available on the PRC website or by calling 845 855-3459.
