Obituary, Elisabeth Johanna Maria Gallo

Elisabeth Johanna Maria Gallo passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at her home in Wappingers Falls, NY at the age of 97.
Formerly of Pawling, NY, she was born in Munich, Germany on January 1, 1925, and was the daughter of Evangelist Johann and Regina Mayer Birkl.  She was conscripted into the German Air Force during WWII was taught Morse Code.  While working as a volunteer in the hospital in Munich, she met an American serviceman, Charles Gallo, whom she fell in love with and married on June 14, 1954, in Tuckahoe, NY; he predeceased her.
She worked as an administrative assistant at the old Village Pharmacy, the Foundation for Christian Living, and LIBA MSRS, all in Pawling, as well as the Ski Haus in Brewster.
Liz was an avid Yankees fan and loved all animals and wildlife.  She always had a passion for learning, and attended college on-line at the age of 91, being the oldest student the college professor ever taught.
She is survived by her two children, Regina (David) Barrett and Marcel (Ada) Gallo; four grandchildren, Amanda Henderson & Tiffany Barrett and Nicholas & Olivia Gallo; and a great-granddaughter, Aydan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 7th at 11 AM at St. John’s Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.
Burial will be at a future date,
In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Liz may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 600 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
