Crash with a bus after fleeing from a bank in Fishkill

Wappinger, New York – On August 12, 2022, the New York State Police and the Village of Fishkill Police arrested Destiny M. Smith, age 28, of Bronx, NY, for Conspiracy in the 5th degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, and Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, all class A misdemeanors, and Jomo J. Cole, age 30, of Bronx, NY, for Conspiracy in the 5th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 4:25 p.m., the Village of Fishkill Police pursued a vehicle northbound on State Route 9 from the village in connection to a grand larceny investigation from Key Bank.  The fleeing vehicle, a 2017 BMW 330i, struck a small school bus on Route 9 in the town of Wappinger and came to rest in a ditch.  All occupants of the suspect vehicle and the bus were treated at local area hospitals for minor injuries and released.

The operator, Destiny Smith, and her passenger, Jomo Cole, were issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Wappinger Court on August 22, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.

This investigation remains ongoing and will be updated as new information becomes available.
