Obituary, Scott Reed Daby

Scott Reed Daby, 78, a six-year resident of Hopewell Junction, NY, formerly of Lady Lake, FL, and Dover Plains, NY, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Maplewood Senior Living Center in Bethel, CT. Mr. Daby was a customer field engineer and project manager for IBM in Boca Raton, FL, White Plains, NY, and Poughkeepsie, NY for 29 years. He received six IBM Excellence Awards between 1968 and 1988.

Born on November 3, 1943 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Oakley (Bud) and Ellen Zimlinghaus Daby. He was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1961 and earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
Mr. Daby proudly served in the United States Navy. He was an avid hunter who loved his Colorado hunting trip every fall, and was an avid deep sea fisherman and golfer.

Mr. Daby is survived by three children, Brandon Daby of Tacoma, WA; Deidre Spaeth of Deltona, FL and Kristin Gibson of Ontario, Canada; two stepchildren, Lauren Lyle of Millerton, NY and Linda Dingee of Dover Plains, NY. He is also survived by two brothers, Eric Daby of Northville, MI and Keith Daby of Sussex, WI, and two sisters, Linda Gray of Hopewell Junction, NY and Leigh Bell of Sharon, SC. He is also survived by his former wives, Carol Elliott and Bridget O’Connor; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Chapin.

Funeral services and burial at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY will be private and at the convenience of the family.
