Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro and Division of Veterans’ Services Director Adam Roche invite veterans to the Red, White, and You! Veterans Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, August 6th from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Camp Nooteeming located at 22 Camp Nooteeming Road in Salt Point.  This free event is open to local veterans and one guest and will be an afternoon of comradery, food, and music. Registration is required as space is limited and can be submitted at dutchessny.gov/veteranspicnic.  The reservation deadline is Wednesday, July 27th.

County Executive Molinaro said, “In Dutchess we are always grateful for the service of our veterans and for putting it all on the line to protect our freedoms. Our Red, White, and You event is one way to show our appreciation to these local heroes. We encourage all veterans to attend, eat, and enjoy Camp Nooteeming. I look forward to interacting with all in attendance.”

The Veterans Appreciation Picnic will give veterans the opportunity to interact with other veterans while enjoying barbeque food, catered by Tavern 23, and listen to live music from country recording artist Jordan Stoner, who will provide an acoustic set from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Local country band, StringMasters, will be performing from 1 p.m. to 3p.m. Attendees will have the chance to take in the grounds and scenic views of Camp Nooteeming, including checking out the new state-of-the-art soccer field, home to Pathfinder FC.

Division of Veterans Services Director Adam Roche said, “The Red, White and You! Appreciation Picnic is set to be an amazing afternoon. Camp Nooteeming is beautiful and scenic, which made it a perfect location to hold the event and I’m confident our veterans will enjoy it. We owe veterans extreme gratitude for their sacrifices, and this picnic is a great way to express our appreciation for their service to our nation. We are happy to offer this event to our local heroes for a fun opportunity to relax and bond. I hope many can attend!”

Special thanks to local businesses and volunteers for participating and donating services. Tavern 23, Associates Golf & Utility Vehicles, Dutchess County Medical Reserve Corps, local radio personality “Uncle Mike” and MHA’s Vet 2 Vet program are all contributing to the event.

The picnic will take place at “Upper Trail Head” at Camp Nooteeming.  Directional signs will be posted to help attendees easily locate the picnic area. Courtesy golf cart rides will be available for those physically disabled and in need of assistance getting from the parking lot to the picnic area.
