Statement from Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro

following the fatal tractor trailer crash on Salt Point Turnpike (CR-115) this morning:

“Our hearts are heavy following the fatal accident this morning at 504 Salt Point Turnpike as a tractor trailer crashed into a building, causing partial collapse.  Our prayers are with the family and loved ones of the driver who perished in the accident. We are grateful to all of the emergency responders from multiple fire, EMS and police agencies who responded to the scene, safely clearing the building of occupants and shoring it up from further collapse as they worked to extricate the driver.   Dutchess County Emergency Response field communication vehicle was deployed as a command post and our Fire Coordinator team, EMS Coordinator, and Logistics Coordinator were on scene to assist with securing mutual aid and supplies and operating a firefighter rehab site to avoid heat sickness and dehydration.  We are again reminded of the importance of the ‘helpers’ throughout our community – those who make it their life’s work to run towards danger and assist those in need, and we are grateful to them.”
