Obituary, Dr. Lawrence S. Schek

Clinton Corners – Dr. Lawrence S. Schek of Clinton Corners, NY, passed peacefully to his final rest on the evening of June 4, 2022. Born in New York City to George and Pola Schek, Holocaust survivors who immigrated from Poland, Dr. Schek lived most of his adult life in the Hudson Valley, caring for the community he loved so much as a founding physician at The Heart Center.

A natural leader and visionary, Dr. Schek took on additional roles within the local medical community, serving as President of the Medical Staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Chief Medical Officer at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT and Chief Medical Officer at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY. Dr. Schek’s many patients trusted and loved him.

Outside of work, Larry traveled extensively with his wife, Brenda, and enjoyed making so many wonderful memories with his sons Gregory and Ethan, his stepdaughter Caroline, and with his beloved grandchildren, Romy and Eli. Larry also greatly enjoyed photography, travel, gardening, the arts, golf, and his many friends.

What truly brought Larry immense joy was his love of hunting and the outdoors. Through his extensive hunting trips, Larry enjoyed the most beautiful parts of the world, from Alaska to Africa, from the Rocky Mountains to Newfoundland.

Dr. Schek is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Brenda, his beloved sons Gregory (Rotem) of Round Rock, TX, and their children, Romy and Eli, Ethan (Camille) of Germantown, TN, stepdaughter Caroline Lynch of Wewahitchka, FL, and nephew, Jacob Sussman of Chappaqua, NY.
