Obituary, Joyce Alice Kennedy

Dover Plains – Joyce Alice Kennedy, 81, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mrs. Kennedy was a kitchen aide at the Dover and Wingdale Elementary Schools in Dover.

Born on October 6, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Merwin James and Caroline Edna (Liller) Osborn. On May 18, 1968 in Pawling, NY, she married Byron F. Kennedy who predeceased her in 2011.

Mrs. Kennedy liked serving others and was affectionate to all. She was known for her hugs. Mrs. Kennedy also enjoyed playing the lottery and BINGO, often referred to as “Lady of Luck.” She was also a member of the Dover Plains United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her loving daughter, Caroline A. Kennedy-Andress of Wingdale, NY; a twin sister, Judy Brown of Dover Plains and a brother, Neil Osborn of Dover Plains. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ashlee M. Loverro of Sharon, CT and Philip J. Loverro of Beulaville, NC; three nieces, Debbie Silvernail, Tina Cuddeback and Jody Martin; three nephews, Thomas and Edward Obsorn and Kyle Brown and several great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kennedy was predeceased by a brother, James F. Osborn and a granddaughter, Alyssa N. Loverro.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Graveside services and burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Valley View Cemetery, S. Nellie Hill Road, Dover Plains, NY.
